James Giacomo Lecce ’49


James Giacomo Lecce ’49 died on May 17 at his home in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jim came to Dartmouth from Williamsport (Pennsylvania) High School. Originally he was in the Navy V-12 program. Jim became professor of animal science and microbiology at North Carolina State University, where he spent 39 years, and received a patent for the Autosow, a machine used to wean young pigs without mothers. He then had a distinguished second career as a sculptor and restorer of tribal art. Jim is survived by his wife, Eileen.
