Arthur Burgess O’Donnell ’45

Arthur Burgess O’Donnell ’45 died peacefully March 9 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, Connecticut. He came to Dartmouth from Naugatuck (Connecticut) High School. He served four years in WW II in the 59th Weather Wing as a weather officer. He graduated from Dartmouth with honors and received his master’s from Tuck, graduating cum laude. He worked as an accountant for Peat, Marwick and Mitchell, then in management consulting for the Catawba Corp. In the 1970s he successfully started and ran his own consulting business, Gherardi & O’Donnell, in the oil and gas exploration industry. He retired from that business. He was married in 1954 to Marion Hale, his wife of 55 years. She predeceased him. He is survived by sons Joseph and Patrick and two grandsons. Arthur was a devoted Catholic who gave generously to many charities.
