Robert Clement Zakaitis ’52
Robert Clement Zakaitis ’52 died February 5 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born in Worcester and graduated from Worcester Commerce High School. He then joined the U.S. Army Air Force and served for six years. He completed pilot flight training and was a bombardier aboard long-range aircraft in the European theater during World War II. During one of his missions his plane was shot down over Germany. After World War II he attended and graduated from Dartmouth. Bob was the oldest recorded member of the class of 1952. He continued his military service in the Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1960 with the rank of major. He was a mechanical engineer and draftsman at the Goddard Valve Corp. in Worcester for many years. He leaves several cousins, including Aldona Gregaitis of Worcester, with whom he lived.
