After retirement Tony and his wife, Margaret Anne “Peggy,” moved to Pharr in 2005 and Tony taught some courses at the University of Texas-Pan American in nearby Edinburg, Texas. Both he and his wife became American citizens after moving to Texas. Peggy and children Jorge, Alberto and Alicia survive him.
