Yates “Pete” Eckert ’52

Yates “Pete” Eckert ’52 died January 20 at the New London, New Hampshire, Hospital. He was born in New Hartford, New York, on December 7, 1929. He attended Utica, New York, schools and prepared for college at the Loomis School in Windsor, Connecticut. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1952 and with an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School in 1953, as part of the five-year plan. Pete was a member of Delta Upsilon. Following college Pete served in the U.S. Army for three years as a finance officer. He spent a lifetime in the brokerage and banking businesses throughout the Northeast, including Utica, New York; Newark, New Jersey; Cleveland, Ohio; and New Haven, Connecticut. He was a broker, security analyst and investment strategist. He also served as the bank economist at Fidelity Union Trust and the head of trust at Union Trust Co. in New Haven. He retired in 1993 because of health reasons and moved to New London in 2002. Members of his family surviving include his wife of 58 years, Mary; children Thomas and Marcie and their spouses; and five grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughter Elizabeth.
