Samuel Wells Smith ’49

Samuel Wells Smith ’49 died on August 14, 2011. Sam came to Dartmouth from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood, New Jersey. Sam was a chubber at Dartmouth, and had a long association with the Dartmouth Outing Club. He taught science after graduation and then worked at Dartmouth for 25 years, serving as assistant director of admissions and as an officer of the Black Alumni Association, among other roles. He leaves his wife, Senora, and five children.
