Frederick Howard Crocker ’55
Frederick Howard Crocker ’55 died in Herkimer, New York, his birthplace, on September 01, 2011. Fred came to Dartmouth from Kimball Union Academy. A government major, Fred joined Delta Tau Delta, Dragon and the Newman Club and played freshman basketball. A member of the Navy ROTC, he subsequently served in the amphibious force for two years. Returning to Herkimer, he assumed the presidency of his father’s insurance agency and became active in local politics. Always an outgoing, fun person, Fred became president of his country club, Rotary and Elks and spent many years as supervisor of the Town of Herkimer. He was especially proud, as president of the local nursing home, of being instrumental in building the first Alzheimer’s disease unit in upstate New York. A staunch supporter of his alma mater, Fred served as a leadership agent, reunion giving committee member (2004-06) and class agent in his last years. Fred is survived by his wife, Donna, and three daughters.
