Andrew Carruth McCulloch ’47
Andrew Carruth McCulloch ’47 died of cancer in Hanover on August 27, 2011. He grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, and while touring as a child actor graduated from the Professional Childrens’ School in New York. He joined the class in the Naval V-12 unit, majored in history, was a member of the Dartmouth Players, sang in the Glee Club and announced for the radio station. He was recalled for duty in the Navy and served for two years on the USS Capricornus, an attack cargo ship, in the Atlantic fleet. After discharge he became a production supervisor for NBC TV. In 1956 he earned an M.B.A. from Columbia and in 1956 joined IBM as a financial analyst; by 1984 he was program manager of finance and business courses for IBM. He left to become associate director of executive programs at Columbia and by 1986 was director for its institute for quantitative research. During his 30 years in Greenwich he served as an elder in the Presbyterian church and as a trustee for the Professional Childrens’ School. In 1996 he and his wife moved to Hanover, where he served as an elder in the Presbyterian church in New London, New Hampshire. He was elected class president 1997 to 2002 and 2007 to 2008. He served on the reunion committee in 1997 and as matching gifts chairman from 1989 to 2000 and class agent from 2005 to 2010. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and son Andrew ’80.
