Blair McClenachan ’45
Blair McClenachan ’45 of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, died April 11. He came to Dartmouth from Chester (Pennsylvania) High School. He was a multi-sport athlete in high school as well as at Dartmouth. Blair was in the Army Air Corps during WW II, when he served on Iwo Jima and in the South Pacific. After the war he returned to Hanover, receiving an M.B.A. from Tuck in 1947. He married Suzanne Gilhams in 1946 (divorced in 1966) and went with DuPont as a technical representative. That led to selling advertising in Scientific American and doing some teaching at Pace University in New York City. After a 35-year career in advertising, he relocated to Carlisle and went to law school at the age of 65. He got his law degree, passed the Pennsylvania Bar exam and went to work for the Gettysburg district attorney’s office as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Blair was an active sportsman and fisherman with a boat on the Intracoastal Waterway and owned several sports cars. In 1970 he married Eileen Hession, who survives him with daughters Anne and Sarah.
