Franklin Benjamin Watters ’41

Franklin Benjamin Watters ’41 of Newington, Connecticut, died on May 5, 2010, at the University of Connecticut Medical Center. At Dartmouth Frank was a member of the Canoe Club, Cabin & Trail, Winter Carnival Council and Dartmouth Outing Club. After graduation Frank obtained his medical degree from Temple University Medical School and his clinical training at Hartford Hospital. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Frank then spent his entire 50-year medical career as a physician at the Newington Veterans Hospital, where he provided care to thousands of veterans. The hospital was closely affiliated with the UConn Medical School. Frank was an outspoken advocate of the high quality of care provided to veterans by the government. He was an out-of-doors devotee, a loyal supporter of UConn women’s basketball team and a long-standing citizen of the Red Sox nation. He is survived by sons F. Benjamin Jr. ’66, Stephen and David ’72, daughter Nancy and six grandchildren.
