Thomas Patrick Donnelly ’48
Thomas Patrick Donnelly ’48 died peacefully on July 18 in Kissimmee, Florida. Tom grew up in the Boston area, graduated from Arlington (Massachusetts) High School, entered Dartmouth in 1944 under the Navy V-12 program and then began active duty training as a pilot in the Naval Flight Prep School. He was discharged from active duty as an aviation cadet, V-5, and resumed his studies at Boston University under the GI Bill. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947 and received his B.A. in 1949. He worked in the insurance industry for two years and then joined the Direct Psychoanalytic Institute from 1951 to l957, during which period he traveled extensively throughout the world. He then moved to York, Pennsylvania, to work for IBM. He married Barbara Ann Christensen and began a 49-year journey that took them to Doylestown, Mechanicsville and Dublin, Pennsylvania. Tom was a deacon of the Doylestown Presbyterian Church and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and the American Legion. In 2004 he and Barbara moved to Melbourne, Florida, to be closer to their son Tom and enjoy their retirement. He was preceded in death by Barbara and younger brother John. He is survived by sons Chuck and Tom and his wife, Lisa, and sisters-in-law Sandy and Katherine.
