Joseph E. Mesics ’54
Joseph E. Mesics ’54 died February 1 in Healdsburg, California. He entered Dartmouth from Caldwell High School in New Jersey. An economics major, Joe was well known on campus for his athletic prowess and for a forthright presentation of himself. He was a guard on the varsity football team and a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon, Sphinx and the Vigilantes. Following graduation he served as a Marine pilot. After discharge Joe pursued a variety of careers: selling aircraft, publishing Popular Electronics and producing wine as a hobby. In More Reflections, the class’ 50th reunion book, Joe presented, in poetic form, his perspective on the 50 years just ended. He eschewed computers and was proud to proclaim himself class luddite. Joe is survived by his daughters Greta and Jane. Joe’s wife, Mary, predeceased him.
