Raymond Lawrence Mullin ’51


Raymond Lawrence Mullin ’51 died on December 20, 2010, of Parkinson’s disease at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a graduate of Lawrence (Massachusetts) Academy, Ray served in the Navy (Asian-Pacific theater) before matriculating with our class. He majored in English and pledged Sigma Chi. After obtaining a library science degree from Simmons College he launched a career in college libraries, specifically Dartmouth, Purdue and Salem (Massachusetts) State College. During these years he married Judith Holmes, who bore him a son, Dale. In 1964 he received a master’s in English from Salem State College and became an English instructor there. He then became an English professor at St. John’s River Community College in Palatka, Florida, finally retiring in 1983. He is survived by Judy and Dale.
