Daniel Frederic Morley ’65

Daniel Frederic Morley ’65 of Boston passed away on June 6, 2010. Daniel came to Dartmouth from Millbrae, California, where he was active in student government, dramatics and other activities. In Hanover he participated in the DOC, worked at WDCR and played tennis. He received his master’s in economics from the University of London in 1969 and returned to New England. After working at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. and State Street Bank and Trust Co., Daniel went on to chair the Morley Group, providing counsel to multinational corporations on external affairs and corporate giving activities. He was generous in his efforts on behalf of Boston civic and charitable organizations, serving on the boards of the New England Historical Seaport and the Boston Zoological Society. He also acted as a director of the Global Habitat Project and the Archaeological Institute of America. He served as president of the Boston Private Industry Council (1982-88), the Boston Housing Partnership (1984-87) and Goals for Boston (1985-89). Daniel loved travel, photography and landscape architecture. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, and children Jeremy and Amanda.
