Charles Leonard Zalk ’45
Charles Leonard Zalk ’45 of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died November 11, 2010. He came to Dartmouth from Duluth, Minnesota. He was a member of Pi Lambda Phi, the Dartmouth Outing Club and the Canoe Club. In 1943 he went into the Navy Air and ended up a gunnery officer on the destroyer USS Case in the Pacific. He married his wife, Cleo, in 1947 in Portland, Oregon, and moved to Los Angeles in the steel business. They moved to Minneapolis in 1954 and he started his own steel service center business. In about 1995 they purchased a condo in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with the intention of spending four or five months in the winter there. Otherwise he and Cleo traveled extensively in Europe, Africa, China and Central and South America. Chuck enjoyed golf and tennis and also was a member of the board of directors of the Steel Service Center Institute. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
