Robert W. Meanix ’52

Robert W. Meanix ’52 died of congestive heart failure on July 10, 2010, at his home in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. He was born in Boston and graduated from Boston English High School. Bob majored in psychology at Dartmouth and was a member of Chi Phi. After serving in the U.S. Navy for two years Bob embarked on a business career in industrial equipment sales, including 33 years with the Ballymore Co. in West Chester, Pennsylvania, where he rose to vice president of sales, marketing and product development. In 1955 he married his wife, Nancy, whom he had known since his early teen years. Together they had 11 children, nine of whom survive him, as does Nancy. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Upon retirement in August 1995 he and Nancy moved near Asheville, North Carolina. They joined Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard, North Carolina, where he served as a lector and on both the pastoral council and the pastoral care ministry group. He was a devoted husband, encouraging father and grandfather and mentor to many in Alcoholics Anonymous. He was an avid golfer and twice achieved the golfer’s dream of a hole-in-one.
