Charles Benedict Cashin ’45


Charles Benedict Cashin ’45 died November 7, 2008, in Creve Coeur, Missouri. He came to Dartmouth from Wilbraham Academy in Massachusetts, where he played football, hockey and was captain of the baseball team. At Dartmouth he played on all those teams. He joined Phi Gamma Delta and was a member of Sphinx and Green Key. Charlie was a B17 bombardier in the European theater during WW II, surviving a parachute landing when his plane had three engines shot out. He had a lifetime career in the leather and shoe industry, serving as vice president of sales with Proctor Products Inc. and then Cashin Sales Co. In 1950 he married Mary Ann Griffen, who predeceased him. He is survived by daughters Susan, Joan, Lisa and Jeri and two grandchildren.
