Seth Towse ’57

Seth Towse ’57 of Loudonville, New York, passed away peacefully on July 17. He was a graduate of Albany Academy, and after his years at Dartmouth attended and graduated from Cornell Law School. He served as assistant attorney general for the State of New York from 1963 to 1967. He later worked with DeGraff Foy, then went into private practice. Prior to retirement he worked in the executive branch of New York State. Seth is survived by his wife, Joanna, children Alison and Ian, grandson Tyler, and a brother, nephew and niece. His father, Robert Towse, was a Dartmouth class of 1924. In our 50th reunion book Return to the Source, Seth wrote: “Ten years ago I retired from law practice. At the same time I reduced my activities in other areas as well. Now I occupy myself cooking, reading, gardening and walking. Formerly I was quite active in the local Dartmouth Club with officerships, interviewing admission candidates and anything else I was asked to do. But I have not attended any Dartmouth events in a long time. I’ll have to remedy that in the future. My focus at the moment is getting acquainted with a new grandchild. Everything else will have to wait a while. I have discovered that I am not a reunion person, so this will be the extent of my celebration.”
