Milton James Singleton Jr. ’60

Milton James Singleton Jr. ’60, a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, passed away April 14. He is survived by son Milton III and his wife, Lori; grandchildren Matthew and Emily; stepson Aaron and his wife, Heather; stepdaughter Shona and her husband, John, and children Benjamin, Thomas, Millie and Poppie; sister Joyce and her husband, Charlie; and nieces Amy, Susan, Jennifer and Rita. Milton was born August 21, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he graduated from Central High School before matriculating to Dartmouth. Milton graduated from Dartmouth in 1960 with a history major. At Dartmouth he was active in The Players, DOC and Army ROTC. Following graduation he was commissioned in the U.S. Army. Captain Singleton was a Vietnam War combat veteran and received the Bronze Star and Air Medal. Milton was employed for 10 years with the University of New Mexico as a human resources manager after retiring from the Department of Defense dependent schools, Atlantic region, in 1993 as assistant director responsible for the operations of schools for military and civilian employees of the Department of Defense in the United Kingdom, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Bermuda and Cuba. Memorial services were held April 20 in Rio Rancho.
