Patrick Melville Morris ’60

Patrick Melville Morris ’60 died on March 25 of Alzheimer’s disease. Patrick, son of Thomas and Lennie Morris, was born on February 28, 1938, in Hamilton, Montana, moving to Great Falls, Montana, where he spent most of his young life. He is survived by his mother, wife Constance, daughters Sarah, Jennifer and Samantha and siblings Anthony and Diane. He was preceded in death by his father. A small family memorial service was held in Florence, Montana, where some of his ashes joined those of six generations of his ancestors. A memorial service in Pinehurst, North Carolina, was held shortly after Easter to celebrate the life of this much loved and admired man. After Dartmouth Pat returned to Montana, where he earned a B.A. in history from Montana State, a master’s in history from the University of Montana and later an M.B.A. from Auburn University. While lecturing at the University of Montana Pat met Suzanne Pennypacker, whom he married on July 20, 1968. Of this union three daughters were born, Sarah, Jennifer and Samantha, and though the marriage was dissolved Pat remained a loving and attentive father to his three girls. He later married Constance Atwell, who brought daughters Cathy and Cindy into Pat’s life. At the time of his death Pat had eight grandchildren.
