Edward Sheldon Davidson ’47


Edward Sheldon Davidson ’47 of San Ramon, California, died on August 7, 2009. He joined the class in the naval unit and majored in geology. After service in the Navy he graduated from Cornell in 1947 and earned an M.A. from Rutgers in 1948. He joined the U.S. Geological Survey as a geologist and worked in copper in Michigan, uranium in Utah, and in Tucson, where he specialized in hydrology. He was sent to Jordan and Egypt to solve water contamination problems. During his time in Tucson taught several courses at the University of Arizona. He retired to San Ramon in 1989 and spent summers at a home on Orcas Island, Washington. He is survived by three children.
