Warren Smock Hance ’55

Warren Smock Hance ’55, known better as “Skip,” died on February 26, 2009, at home in Grantham, New Hampshire. Skip lived in Fair Haven, New Jersey, and attended Lawrenceville Prep prior to entering Dartmouth. He was a member of the DOC, Air Force ROTC and Zeta Psi and graduated with a history major. Following an Air Force hitch he pursued a master’s in American history at Columbia and subsequently taught at Miss Porter’s School, where he became headmaster in 1975. He assumed a position at Harvard Law School in development and alumni affairs and returned to Hanover in 1986 to become the College’s vice president for same. He married Alice, better known as “Lou,” in 1956 and is survived by her and his two children, Allen and Lindsay.
