Dan Charles Dutcher ’53

Dan Charles Dutcher ’53 died on June 27, 2009, of cancer that had metastasized to his liver. Dan came to Dartmouth from Iowa City (Iowa) High School, where he was an accomplished athlete, writer and dramatist. Dan was with us during the freshman year, and thanks to his wife, Barbara, we also know that he had a long and distinguished legal career that included being twice elected the presiding judge in the courthouse where he sat. Barbara also relates that although his time in Hanover was relatively short, his memory wasn’t, and she remembers him telling a story of a ski jump and a baby carriage. So do some of the rest of us. To all those who love Dan we send our condolences and our deepest sympathy. Once again our ranks have been thinned and we have lost a fine friend and classmate.
