Richard P. Hollingworth ’52

Richard P. Hollingworth ’52, M.D., a resident of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away after a long illness on June 27, 2009. He grew up in Yardley, Pennsylvania, prepared for college at the Peddie School and obtained a degree in chemistry from Dartmouth and a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Durham in Durham, England. He held several posts in the eastern United States before moving to Muskogee to work as a geochemist. Dick loved New Hampshire and especially Dartmouth. He was an active member of both the Mountaineering Club and the Ledyard Canoe Club. He was an avid hiker and skier, skills he picked up during the Korean conflict, when he served in the U.S. Army, testing material in the cold and ice of the White Mountains. He was married to the late Elizabeth Gray. Dr. Hollingworth is survived by his sister, a nephew, a niece and three cousins.
