Ronald W. Tigner ’73


Ronald W. Tigner ’73 died of causes related to pulmonary disease in Atlanta on October 21, 2009. Ronn graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta. At Dartmouth he majored in economics and history, chaired the Choate Road Council, was a member of the Afro-American Society and instructed as an apprentice teacher. After graduation Ronn worked in the banking industry and in economic development before graduating from Mercer University Law School in 1991. He was minority general counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Small Business and ultimately returned to Atlanta to create the not-for-profit Georgia Certified Development Corp. Ronn’s philanthropy included membership on the boards of Dress for Success and the Ballethnic Dance Company in Atlanta. In 2008 he underwent a double lung transplant, which gave him an extra year with his daughter Akilah, granddaughter Ana and his mother, Annie Tigner, who survive him.
