Vernon Brooks Jr. ’45


Vernon Brooks Jr. ’45 died April 6 at the Fairfax (Virginia) Nursing Center. He was a native of Evanston, Illinois, but came to Dartmouth from White Plains (New York) Senior High School. After Navy service in the Pacific he joined Standard-Vacuum Oil, which later became part of Mobil Oil. He rose in the corporate structure to become purchasing supervisor, a post in which he was responsible for acquiring chemicals for the company’s oil refineries. He moved to Fairfax County in 1980, when Mobile Oil relocated its headquarters to the area. He is survived by children Marcia, Bradley and Wayne.
