Jack D. Schaeffer ’62

Jack D. Schaeffer ’62 of Castalia, Ohio, died on April 9 at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky, Ohio, after a brief illness. Jack was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was graduated from Lake Orion Community High School in Pontiac, Michigan. At Dartmouth he majored in engineering and became a brother of Alpha Theta/Theta Chi. Following graduation Jack eventually joined the Kelsey Hayes Co. of Fremont, Ohio, starting out as foreman of the disc brake rotor assembly division in 1969. Prior to his career with Kelsey Hayes, however, Jack served as a U.S. Marine Corp. officer in Vietnam (1962-69) and was awarded three Bronze Stars for his efforts during the war. He is survived by his wife, Janet; children Corinne, Jennifer and Chris and two grandchildren.
