Stanley Norman Juthe Jr. ’57
Stanley Norman Juthe Jr. ’57 died at home in Agawam, Massachusetts, on May 8, 2009. Stan was raised on the family farm in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and came to Dartmouth from Phillips Academy. While at Dartmouth he was a history major, member of Delta Upsilon and participated in WDBS, Dartmouth Outing Club, ski patrol and NROTC. Stan served in the Coast Guard from 1958 to 1960, attaining the rank of lieutenant, j.g., and then attended Tuck School, class of 1962. Stan’s career was spent working with computers, data processing and systems analysis, first at IBM, then Casual Corner and finally at the Massachusetts Departments of Income Maintenance and of Youth Services, where he was chief of data processing for four years. He retired in 1981. Stan loved walks on the beaches of Cape Cod, old cars (mostly convertibles) and NASCAR racing. He was known for the Super Bowl parties he hosted for 25 years and was an avid Patriots fan. “That’s the Stan I knew!” wrote fraternity brother Shelly Kjellenberg ’57. Mostly Stan enjoyed listening to his grandsons’ stories and watching them play ball. He would, without any reason, buy gifts or flowers for his wife of 35 years, Jo-Ann. He is survived by Jo-Ann, children Kristian and Karen, grandsons Paul and Matthew and niece Amy.
