David Flores ’78

David Flores ’78 died on February 20 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, after a brief illness. David came to Dartmouth from Ephrata High School in Lancaster County and lived in Wheeler his freshman year. A history major, the 6-foot-8 David was a forward on the basketball team and member of Alpha Chi Alpha. Born in North Carolina, he lived in Caracas, Venezuela, before his family moved to Pennsylvania. He went to Georgetown Law School and played professional basketball in Venezuela during the summers. After serving as a law clerk for the Court of International Trade, he became a litigator in New York City and Lancaster. He met his future wife, Kathy, on an airplane and they were married for 33 years. Both were avid hikers and opened their home to a myriad of dogs. David remained interested in history his entire life, devouring books on the subject. David is survived by Kathy, brother James, and 10 nieces and nephews.
