Frederick G. Meyer ’67

Frederick G. Meyer ’67 passed away on February 25. Rick came to the College from Saint Luke’s High School in New Canaan, Connecticut, majored in anthropology, and was a brother of Phi Tau, serving as president in his senior year. He and was active in WDCR, Dartmouth Christian Fellowship, Interfraternity Council, Jack-O-Lantern, and the Undergraduate Council. After graduation Rick attended Columbia Law School, earning his J.D. in 1970, and then the New York University School of Law, earning his LL.M. (in taxation) in 1979. In 1980 he moved to Denver to become a partner at Holland and Hart. He wrote numerous professional articles and course guides on domestic and international tax matters, estate planning, and asset protection and served as a visiting professor in the Denver University Law School graduate tax program. Among other honors, he was elected a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and was chairman of the American Bar Association Agricultural Tax Committee. Rick retired from the practice of law in 2005 to pursue his love of skiing and tennis and spend more time with family. He is survived by Laura, his partner of 10 years; children Johanna and Alex; and grandsons Chase, Perrin, and Jamie.
