Don Lloyd Wreden ’75

Don Lloyd Wreden ’75 passed away peacefully at his home January 29 of pancreatic cancer. Don was born in Raymondville, Texas, on September 5, 1953, and grew up on the family farm as the youngest of four children. He attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas, where he was the captain and MVP of the soccer and cross-country teams. At Dartmouth he graduated magna cum laude with honors in biology and rowed on the varsity crew. Don went on to graduate from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas in 1979. He subsequently completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson. In the spring of 1983 Don met Maxine “Max” Barish; he moved to Chicago to be with Max, who was in medical school at University of Chicago, and they married in 1985. They then moved to Sacramento, California, where Don joined an internal medicine practice focusing on primary care and hospital medicine and Max did an internal medicine residency at University of California Davis. Don and Max enjoyed many years in northern California. He is survived by Max and children Davey, Doug, and Julia.
