Andrew M. Allen ’63
Andrew M. Allen ’63 passed away on February 4. He grew up in suburban Philadelphia and attended Nether Providence High School in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, where he was class president and participated in baseball and football. At Dartmouth Andy majored in public administration and was a rugby player and a member of Theta Delt and Dragon. He was an active alumnus from 1989 to 2020 as an admissions ambassador, club officer and district enrollment director, Alumni Fund volunteer, and book award chair. He earned an M.B.A. from the University of Virginia Darden School in 1965 and then served briefly in the National Guard and the Army Reserve with a final rank of motor sergeant. For more than 30 years Andy worked in account and senior management positions with several New York City advertising agencies, wrapping up his career at Bozell Worldwide, where he was responsible for the Latin American region and was a member of the board of directors. He and wife Diane raised their family in Armonk, New York, where they lived for 30 years. They retired to Seabrook Island near Charleston, South Carolina, where Andy served on the boards of Storm Eye Institute and Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach and participated in kayaking, sailing, horseback riding, snorkeling, golf, and tennis. He is survived by Diane, daughter Elizabeth ’90 and her husband James ’90, son Tyler ’92, and eight grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
