Walter L. Stackler ’58 died on February 10 at his home in Oyster Bay, New York. Walt grew up Roslyn Harbor and lived on Long Island throughout his life. He was a brother at Delta Kappa Epsilon and studied engineering at Thayer for his fifth-year Th’59. After service in the U.S. Army Reserves, Walt embarked on a career in real estate development and investment, building home developments on the south and north shores of Long Island. In the late 1970s he acquired a distressed hotel in Roslyn and converted it to an office building he owned and operated for nearly 30 years. Walt enjoyed sailing and had a passion for vintage cars, winning blue ribbons at car shows up and down the East Coast. He is survived by his wife, Lucy; a son; and three grandchildren.
