Jay D. Trepp ’57

Jay D. Trepp ’57 passed away on December 18, 2024. Jay graduated from Glastonbury (Connecticut) High School. At Dartmouth he majored in economics, participated in WDBS (advertising director), Dartmouth Christian Union, and Dartmouth Outing Club. He was in the 3-2 program, earning his bachelor’s in 1957 and M.B.A. in 1958 from Tuck School. He started his career in 1958 as an accountant with Arthur Anderson & Co. in Boston, then went into banking with State Street Bank and First National Bank of Boston. He became a certified public accountant. After about 10 years in traditional accounting, his restless nature prompted him to move on to Brede Exposition Services in Boston, a contractor offering convention and trade show exhibit design, shipping, decorations, set up, and storage. He had a commercial driver’s license most of his life and loved driving 18-wheelers across the country. He set up exhibits in 49 states (missing only South Dakota). Jay worked for Brede until 2020, when Covid forced its closure. An enthusiastic traveler, he visited six continents and 49 countries in search of a new adventure. Anyone who shared a meal with Jay knew his favorite foods were spaghetti, potatoes, ice cream, and Spam. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children David, Kimberly, Patricia, Ralph, Elizabeth, Katherine, and Robert; and 12 grandchildren.
