Paul Muenzner ’63

Paul Muenzner ’63, M.D., died on April 13 holding hands with his wife, Elizabeth. He was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and moved at an early age to Ashland, Kentucky, where he attended high school, played basketball, and was the yearbook editor-in-chief. At Dartmouth Paul majored in history, was a member of the Newman Club (executive committee), participated in the Outing Club, and was a brother of Kappa Sigma. He was an alumni interviewer after graduation. Paul obtained his M.D. at the University of Kentucky in 1978 after spending five years in the lab of Armco Steel in Ashland. He did his internship at Akron General Medical Center (1973-74) and his residency at Akron Medical. He opened a private practice in Superior, Wisconsin, the only orthopedic surgeon in the area. Paul then opened a practice in Dayton, Ohio. He specialized in osteoarthritis, knee damage, intervertebral disk degeneration, and scoliosis. He moved to Fayetteville, North Carolina, and practiced in the Veteran’s Hospital until he retired in 2016. He was a strong supporter of Youth for Christ in Fayetteville. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, three children, and four grandchildren.
