William Edward Rex ’54

William Edward Rex ’54 passed away on May 26, in Asheville, North Carolina. Bill was born on November 27, 1931, in Winnetka, Illinois, and graduated from the Governor Dummer Academy. At Dartmouth he was involved in Air Force ROTC, Phi Gamma Delta, Sphinx, and the golf team. He served as an officer in the Air Force for three years. Bill was a member of the New York Stock Exchange, U.S. Seniors Golf Association, Meadowbrook Hunt Club, the board of directors of the Sawgrass Country Club, and Laurel Ridge Country Club. After retiring from the New York Stock Exchange in 1987, he and wife Judy moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. In 2020 they moved to Waynesville, North Carolina, and eventually to the Deerfield Retirement Community in Asheville. He spent his time enjoying his family, golf, traveling, entertaining friends, and sitting outside with a scotch and water in hand enjoying the mountain view. Bill was predeceased by son William. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy; children Dana, Edward, and Victoria; grandchildren Conor, Kelsey, Atticus, and Harriet; and brother Robert.
