R. Thomas Schoonmaker ’55

R. Thomas Schoonmaker ’55 died December 21, 2023, at Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and children Elizabeth, Jane, and Timothy ’79. A native of Ossining, New York, Tom came to Dartmouth from Ossining High School. He majored in government and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the Glee Club, Injunaires, and The Players. Tom enjoyed a successful career as a transportation executive with Consolidated Rail Corp. in Philadelphia. He was a member of the conveyance task force that created Conrail from assets of bankrupt railroads Penn Central and Erie Lackawanna.
