Edwin Lewis Lyon Jr. ’52

Edwin Lewis Lyon Jr. ’52, a long-time resident of Naples, Florida, and a former resident of Massachusetts, passed away on July 17. Ed was born in Rhode Island on March 17, 1929, graduating from Lockwood High School in 1947, Tabor Academy in 1948, and Dartmouth in 1952 with an economics degree. He was a member of Zeta Psi and captain of the lacrosse team. Ed loved New England and returned to the area during summer and fall for many years, when he enjoyed fly fishing in Maine and was a Maine guide, visiting the New England coastal areas of Maine and Rhode Island. He spent many summers with family on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and fall in Woodstock, Vermont. He met his career goals with 25 years at Smith Barney before launching his own private investment firm. After family, his greatest love was Dartmouth (he was president of the North Shore alumni club). He was a passionate Dartmouth athletics fan and returned to Hanover for visits many times throughout his life. He shared his love for the small college with his family. Ed leaves behind his spouse of 68 years, Gail; children Jeffrey ’77, Leslie, Steven, Craig, and Drew; 11 grandchildren, including Katherine ’05, Tyler ’08, Jason ’10, Hope ’11, and Jill ’13; and 14 great grandchildren.
