George R. “Bob” Shanno ’63

George R. “Bob” Shanno ’63 died on September 1, 2023, in Drums, Pennsylvania after a brief illness. Bob was born in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, and attended Hazleton High School, where he participated in the glee club and dramatics. He received his A.B. in history at Dartmouth and M.A. degrees in history and education at Lehigh University. He was an admissions interviewer for Dartmouth. Bob returned to Hazleton High School to teach history and social studies for 40 years. He was active in community and school affairs and was a lector at his church. He later moved nearby to Conyngham, Pennsylvania. Bob traveled extensively in the United States and Europe.
