George Dimon Jr. ’51

George Dimon Jr. ’51 died on October 11, 2023. He was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. George entered Dartmouth but transferred to the U.S. Military Academy, from which he graduated in 1952. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, retiring in 1979 as a colonel. During his active service he flew fighter-interceptor jets in Iceland, was an engineer in the Air Force Air Development Center, served as a strategic warfare analyst and a member of NATO’s advisory group for aerospace research and development in Paris, and completed two tours at the Pentagon. An avid singer, George was a member of several choirs. He was president of the Rotary Club in Manassas, Virginia; vice chairman of the Manassas Airport Commission; and a fellow in the Military Operations Research Society.
