Leonard Preston Larrabee Jr. ’52

Leonard Preston Larrabee Jr. ’52 of Falmouth, Maine, passed away on July 22. Len was born May 9, 1930, in New Rochelle, New York. He graduated from Dartmouth in 1952 and Tuck School of Business in 1953. Len was a class leader and member of Kappa Sigma, Casque & Gauntlet, Green Key, and Palaeopitus. He then served as a lieutenant in the Army Finance Corps. While in the service, Len married his college sweetheart, Judith Tracy. Following discharge from the service Len and Judy settled in New Rochelle and Len worked for The Hanover Bank in New York and attended Fordham Law School, graduating in 1960. After graduation Len joined the New York City law firm of Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer, & Wood as an associate lawyer and retired in 1995 as a senior partner in the firm. His principal areas of practice were corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Following retirement Judy and Len divided their time principally between their homes in South Carolina and Maine. Len served on numerous boards and committees of the Bustins Island (Maine) Village Corp. for more than 30 years. In 2010 Judy and Len moved to Ocean View Retirement Community at Falmouth. Len was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of more than 59 years and their daughter Nancy. He is survived by children Judith, Elizabeth, Jacqueline, Leonard III, and David; their spouses; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Len’s late father, Leonard P. Larrabee, was class of 1925.
