Kathy Maher ’78

Kathy Maher ’78 of Wellesley, Massachusetts, passed away January 21 after a hard-fought battle with endometrial cancer. Kathy came to Dartmouth from Langley High School in McLean, Virginia. She lived in Hinman freshman year. Later she lived in New Hamp. Kathy was involved in intramural sports all four years at Dartmouth. She majored in math, then received an M.B.A. from Boston University. She had an extensive career in the financial services industry, holding executive-level positions at BankBoston, FleetBoston, Bank of America, Citigroup, and lastly at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Kathy was a mentor to many women in business and coauthor of the 2021 book Launch! 11 Key Elements of Wildly Successful Startups. “Kathy was a hard worker,” recalled classmate Jeff Corwe, who worked with her at Bank of Boston after graduation. “I recall she got her M.B.A. from BU at night while full time at the bank, which was a heavy load. She was also a delightful person, very even keeled with a ready sense of humor and always up for doing something fun, even amid her busy schedule. Kathy was motivated and determined and that clearly carried through her entire life.” She is survived by her husband of 38 years, James, and daughters Kaitlin and Michelle.
