Peter Warriner Robinson ’52

Peter Warriner Robinson ’52 passed away in Bainbridge Island, Washington, on November 23, 2022, after suffering from a bad fall, as reported by his wife, Elizabeth. Peter was born in Sewanee, Tennessee, on August 20, 1930, and came to Dartmouth after graduating from Sewanee Military Academy. At Dartmouth Peter majored in botany and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He was also a Navy ROTC student and served as an officer for three years following graduation. As a lieutenant (j.g.) Peter served as an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy in the department of seamanship and navigation. He and Elizabeth were married on August 10, 1955, in Sewanee and were married for 67 years. Peter’s career was in various business and management responsibilities, first with the IBM Corp. in Baltimore, then the insurance business in Glens Falls, New York, and finally for many years at Peoples Bank in Bainbridge Island. Peter is survived by Elizabeth and their children—Barbara, Mark, Paul, Susan, and Gretchen—and families, including five grandchildren. Peter’s father-in-law, Melvin Southwick, was a member of the class of 1919. Peter’s grandson, Peter, recently served an internship for six months in the Dartmouth geology department.
