Joel R. Shyavitz ’58

Joel R. Shyavitz ’58 passed away November 6, 2022. Joel was born and grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts, and came to Dartmouth from Philips Andover Academy. He majored in sociology and was active on campus in freshman Glee Club plus the Jewish Life and Young Democrats organizations. After graduating from the New England School of Law, he became a lawyer in private practice in Lowell for many years and lived in nearby Westford. He was president of Saints Medical Center Men’s Guild and the New England Region Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. Joel is survived by his wife, Carole, and two daughters (both lawyers), including Lori ’95.
