Richard A. Watt ’54

Richard A. Watt ’54 passed away on April 4. He was living in Boca Raton, Florida, at the time of his passing. Dick came to Dartmouth from Garwood, New Jersey, having attended Jonathan Dayton Regional High School there. He majored in German and was a member of the Handel Society, Glee Club, and Outing Club. He was also a member and president of the Russian Club. Following graduation Dick obtained a Ph.D. in German which led to a career teaching German and Russian at University of Michigan, University of South Carolina, Gettysburg College, University of Virginia, and Lehigh University. In the 1970s he began a new career at Siemens in translations and automated translation development. In 1979 he was transferred with Siemens to Boca Raton, which he continued to call home following his retirement.
