Andrew MacKenzie Bohman ’86

Andrew MacKenzie Bohman ’86 of Chatham, Massachusetts, died at age 58 on January 25 after a brief illness. He came to Dartmouth from Deerfield Academy. At Dartmouth he majored in government, was a member of Sphinx, and earned the nickname “Mugsy” from his Alpha Delta brothers because of his heavy beard. One of his favorite summers during college was working on the harbor patrol for the Chatham Police Department. Andrew was known for his quick wit, steel-trap mind, sense of humor, and low-key manner. He was forever a loyal friend and a straight shooter. He spent his career working in the hospitality industry, for more than 25 years at Pate’s Restaurant and most recently at Bistro on Main, both in Chatham. His fellow hospitality workers on Cape Cod were truly his second family. He also worked part-time in real estate sales. For the past few years Andrew took on the full-time role of caregiver to his mother, “Dougie,” after she developed Alzheimer’s disease. A golfer, Andrew was a longtime member of Eastward Ho! Country Club. Andrew stoically battled multiple sclerosis for the past dozen years. He was an avid sports fan who would stop everything to watch his beloved Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco 49ers, or Milwaukee Bucks. Another favorite activity for Andrew was playing trivia with his Chatham friends. In addition to his mother, Andrew is survived by brothers David and Jack and his wife, Sally; nephews Mackenzie and Lane; and nieces Adrianna and Alexis.
