Robert Livingston ’70

Robert Livingston ’70 died on January 12. He had suffered from poor health in recent years and was in isolation due to Covid when he died.After graduation from Dartmouth, where he broke a number of track records, Bob served in the Marines for five years. He was first commissioned as a second lieutenant to run on the national track team. Later he saw duty in the Pacific, at Okinawa, andin the Philippines before retiring at the rank of captain in 1975.Returning to civilian life, Bob moved to southern California and began a 35-year career in the trucking industry at SeaLand Corp. Ultimately he started his owncompany, Honor Trucking. After retirement he worked part-time as a substitute teacher in the Huntington Beach area. Bob married a high school classmate Barbara Lehman in 1986. Their daughter, Lauren, was born in 1986. Bob enjoyed sports, fishing, trivia, and history. He was also known for an encyclopedic knowledge of every episode of Seinfeld. He is survived by his brother, Richard, and his sister, Nancy. Bob was proud of his military service and loved animals, especially his black cats. Donations in his memory may be made to a charity that supports veterans or animals
