Richard H. Barr ’55

Richard H. Barr ’55 passed away on December 30, 2021, in Londonderry, Vermont. He is survived by his daughters, Sabrina and Capucine. Dick came to Dartmouth from Larchmont, New York, after completing his primary education at the Hun School. He majored in art history and was a member of Delta Tau Delta, Dartmouth Air Society, and the Newman Club. After a successful career in New York as a designer and importer of women’s fashion and Scottish woolens, Dick retired to Londonderry, where he started a new career teaching art history. Dick also developed his interest in Scottish bagpipes. He met pipers in Scotland and hosted annual bagpipe concerts at his home. Dick received the Class of 1955 Award in 2013 for his accomplishments and support of Dartmouth.
