Miguel Pato Pulido IV ’74

Miguel Pato Pulido IV ’74 died July 25, 2021, in Philadelphia. Miguel came to Hanover from Germantown High School in Philadelphia. At Dartmouth Miguel was a member of Heorot and graduated with distinction in history. He later earned a master’s in social work from Temple University in Philadelphia. Soon after college Miguel married Christina Recks, and together they brought up their four children. Miguel was widowed in 1995. He taught business management, business ethics, and applied research and statistics at Eastern University in Philadelphia. He served on the boards of numerous organizations that provide resources to underserved communities and worked as a counselor in the Chester County Prison System. Miguel and Sharon Shepherd were married in 1997. They enjoyed time together serving the Lord and helping others, themes that characterized Miguel’s professional career as well as his life in the church and greater community. He was an elder of Tenth Presbyterian Church, where he served in the Mercy Ministries, oversaw the church kitchen providing community dinners, and preached at the nursing home on the University of Pennsylvania campus. Miguel was especially passionate about his work with Gideons International to distribute Bibles around the world. Miguel enjoyed spending time laughing and joking with his children, grandchildren, in-laws, and friends. He is survived by Sharon; children Miguel, Matthew, Morgan, and Maria and their partners; five grandchildren; brothers Angelo and Christopher; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
