Arthur Graner Thorne III ’55

Arthur Graner Thorne III ’55 passed away on September 22, 2021, at his home in Palos Verdes, California. He is survived by Bobbie, his wife of 63 years, daughter Karey, and son John. After his freshman year, Graner transferred to the University of California in Berkeley. He spent a year there before joining the Army to complete two years as a medic at Fort Lewis, Washington. Graner returned to Cal and graduated with a bachelor’s in physics. He also found Bobbie, the love of his life. They were married in 1958. Graner started his career as a physicist with North American Aviation in Washington, D.C. In 1996 he joined Ampex Corp.
